How much do forecasts cost?
Pricing is based on your forecast timeframe:
Timeframe Price 1 Day $9 3 Days $24 5 Days $35 10 Days $59
Anything in-between the these timeframes is pro-rated to the hour.
What if my forecast covers a large area? Won't it cost more?
Nope, same price. We automatically scale the resolution based on the size of your forecast to provide the same pricing.
How much do forecasts cost?
Pricing starts at $1 per forecast. The cost of a forecast is calculated based on the CPU time consumed by the forecast. CPU usage depends on model grid size, grid resolution, duration of the simulation, and physics settings.
For a 5-day forecast using a domain covering 4800 by 3600 km at a grid resolution of 12 km and 30 vertical levels, you can expect to see the following options (times and prices will vary depending on the model configuration):
Price Run Time $2.86 6 hours $3.67 4 hours $5.21 3 hours 15 minutes $7.03 2 hours 45 minutes $11.68 2 hours 30 minutes
For the same setup, but with an added storm-following nest of 1200 by 1200 km at 4-km grid resolution, you can expect to see the following options (times and prices will vary depending on the model configuration):
Price Run Time $6.18 19 hours 45 minutes $7.87 13 hours 30 minutes $10.95 10 hours 30 minutes $15.69 8 hours 45 minutes $26.09 8 hours
When you upload your namelist file, you'll be given several pricing options before you start your forecast. You can pay more to use more parallel processors and complete your forecasts more quickly, or pay less if the cheaper option is fast enough.
Each pricing option includes an estimated time it'll take your WRF forecast to complete. These are estimates, and may not reflect the actual time of completion. Cloudrun continuously analyzes run-time data to provide more accurate estimates in the future.
What happens if my forecast fails?
This depends on the circumstances:
- If the forecast fails at any time due to Cloudrun failure, you will be notified and credited for the full amount.
- If the forecast fails prematurely due to WRF numerical instability or misconfiguration of the input data or namelist, you will be charged only for the fraction of the time used up to the failure, pro-rated to the second.
We continuously work on improving Cloudrun's automatic detection of errors in input data and namelist files.
When will I be billed?
We bill your credit card on file on the 1st of every month. This includes all forecasts you've made, and your monthly disk usage cost for all stored output files. Any credit you have will be applied to your balance before your credit card is charged.
You credit card information is secure and never stored on Cloudrun servers. All credit card transactions are securely processed using Stripe.
We currently offer only a free, pay-as-you-go plan. We will consider monthly and annual membership plans in the future.
